good fun that is funny!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MILES
I can't believe my little boy is already 4 years old. It seems like yesterday that I was sitting at home nursing him and taking care of his every need and now he's all grown up. (I sound like he's off to college or something.) He is so independent he might as well be.
Today is March 31st and it's Miles's birthday. He started out as 7 lbs and 19 inches and today is 42 inches and 40 lbs. He loves to play swords and blow bubbles and read books and ride his bike and climb the rock wall and swim. He still loves movies and sleeping in and snuggling. Some of his favorite foods are pizza, artichokes, rice, chicken and oreos minus the cookie part. :D He can't wait to go to disneyland and spend 4 days with grandma at her big house. He is a joy and a good, sweet boy when he wants to be. Today when I asked him what he wanted to do he said, "how 'bout some good fun that is funny?" Sure! Why not?

bathing suit woes

i have been dying for a new suit. mostly cause i have given up the 2 piece (sniff, sniff) and secondly because my body is so different from last summer i can't even fit into my "old" suits. but one pieces, as cute as they are, are way more expensive than 2 pieces (what?!) i would kill for one of these 1950 swimsuits. they're so flattering and adorable. who makes them? anyway i end up doing all my shopping on line anyway cause of the twins and boys (but who can get a decent bathing suit online?)

solution? this swimsuit giveaway. good luck ladies.

Pay it Forward!

The first 3 people to respond to this post will receive something made by either Sara or Joel. What we make will be our choice, but it will be made just for you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1. We make no guarantees that you will like what we make!

2. What we create will be a Sara or Joel original and it will be made just for you.

3. It'll be done this year (might be December 31st, but you WILL get something) and we will post all of our original creations as they are completed.

4. You will get no clues what it's going to be. Whatever it is, it will be a surprise!

5. We reserve the right to do something extremely strange :)

The catch? The catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 3 people who do the same on your blog.

-Thanks to my friend Sara, I was a winner on her blog (can't wait to see what I won!!)

Happy commenting (AND posting!)

the boys 4 year pictures from kiddie kandids

I love how photogenic these boys are. They loved getting their pictures taken. The ones on top are the ones we got. We are going to frame a picture of each of the boys and scarlett and put it in our room. Mollie also took pictures of us when she out here at the beginning of the month. We can't wait to see those!!! ENJOY.

flowers in her hair

this is mama's pretty girl that just cannot get enough of! and i think i know why joel thinks this girl is high maintenance: last night every time he would take scarlett so i could feed isaac she would cry and fuss and give him such a hard time. but guess what, as soon as she came back to mama she was calm as can be. so call it high maintenance if you want, she just has a certain way she likes to be held. ;D

Two of my Favorite Pictures

Isaac was content, he probably just filled his tummy. This kid is sooo cute! Any time I am watching him he seems to be less work than Scarlett. He is happy with his Nuk, until he gets hungry and then watch out!

I was on my way out and kissed my finger and gave that kiss to Scarlett and as my finger touched her nose, she got the biggest smile and she just sat there for 30 seconds...she is beautiful! I mentioned to Sara that I thought Scarlett was *high maintenance, just like her mom, and Isaac was more chill, just like his dad--she did not agree. Our kids already know how to manipulate us! I guess when Sara has the twins, Isaac will cry just to be held by his mom and when I am watching them, Scarlett just wants to be held by her dad...I don't see that changing anytime soon.

***by high maintenance I mean that she knows what she wants and won't settle for less...its not a bad thing! it just gives me a chance to deliver, and I do;-)

a babies first

you know you need a break when you're lingering at your obgyn's office after an exam just to chat. yeah, that was me this afternoon. 7 extra minutes of adult conversation which mostly revolved around everyone asking how the twins are. :D
then i think i'm gonna have a quiet night cause joel took the boys bowling and who knows what else cause they were gone for over 3 hrs which usually would be a joy but tonight i just really wanted someone to relieve me of the two crying babies i had. i'm writing this because it needs to be documented and i'm not caught up on the babies' journal to write it there BUT tonight truly is the first night the babies were crying for no reason. lucky me they both crossed this milestone together. i know you're all thinking, "twins! i wish i had them." they will be 7 weeks tomorrow so clearly i've got no reason to complain HOWEVER i nursed them for a good 2 hours at least. this consisted of me nursing scarlett and isaac getting fussy and scarlett falling asleep and then me nursing isaac until scarlett got fussy and isaac fell asleep so then i go back to nursing scarlett...for two straight hours (or more & i know they were eating cause scarlett had her usual burp-up and my bra is soaked. it goes IN your mouth children). i changed diapers 2x during this process and took them out of their blankets and re-wrapped them when that didn't solve any problems, gave them paci's, just cuddled them, rubbed their backs, etc. nothing worked. finally i got isaac calm and held/bounced scarlett to sleep and then held/bounced isaac while balancing scarlett on my lap. tonight i was just waiting for joel to come home but of course he was exhausted from being with the boys for the past 3+ hours. BUT i hadn't eaten, or peed in 3+ hours so i feel more sorry for myself. :D
anyway, still loving parenthood & the good news is i got my birth control today while at the dr's so hopefully we'll just enjoy the 4 we've got.

Babies Blessings

Sunday March 8th Joel gave our babies beautiful blessings. Joel's parents, brothers Paul & Spencer, sister Noelle & hubby Josh were there. My father & his family, Grandpa & Bonnie, brother Michael & sister Emily were there. We had lots of friends come out and support us and several people from our former ward were there too. It was such a busy day and I felt so rushed and pulled every which way BUT we really appreciate everyone coming out and being worthy to stand in the circle and bless our little ones!

Fun with Contacts

The Lady and Sons Peach Cobbler

Paula Deen is the woman! Try this and love it. :D I've had it twice this week already.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 (28-ounce) can sliced peaches in heavy syrup, un-drained (If they are available, by all means use fresh peaches; see note*)
  • Cinnamon, for sprinkling, optional
  • Vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream, for serving

Directions

*In a saucepan, mix 2 cups fresh peach slices with one cup sugar and one cup water. Bring the mixture to a boil and then simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir often, making sure the sugar is completely dissolved. Substitute this for the canned peaches.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Put butter in a 13 by 9 by 2-inch baking dish and place in the oven to melt. Stir sugar and flour together and mix well. Slowly add milk and continue stirring to prevent the batter from lumping.

Being careful not to burn yourself, remove hot baking dish containing melted butter from oven; pour batter directly over butter in baking dish. Do not stir.

Spoon fruit on top of batter, then gently pour syrup on top. Do not stir. Sprinkle cinnamon on top of batter, if using. (The most important part of this dish is not stirring the mixture at this point in the recipe.)

Bake for 30 to 45 minutes or until golden brown. Your batter will rise above your fruit, producing the most wonderful of crusts. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.
